Trash Talk Mixtape: Dream Awhile, Scheme Awhile
This is an odd one. I got this in my email today from Trash Talk's label. It's a mixtape of soul songs put together by one of the guys from the band. Strange, but I enjoyed it. Cover art is really misleading.

Black Flag - The Process Of Weeding Out
This is a strange one. If you're a casual Black Flag fan or not a fan of the band at all, you probably haven't heard of this one. It definitely breaks the Black Flag mold and shows how truly genius these guys really were. It's four tracks of really experimental, almost sludgy, punkish and almost progressive sounding stuff. It's also completely instrumental and most of the songs are over five minutes long. If you've never heard it before, check it out. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Newest effort from California based 'Cinema-Grinders' Graf Orlock. Movie sample laden grindcore. Not bad.

Darkthrone - Frostland Tapes
The Frostland Tapes, a three disc set released in 2008, was the first official release of Darkthrone's first four demos as well as a live recording from 1990. Also included is a (formerly) rare recording from the 1991 Goatlord rehearsal session. As expected, muddy ass production and some of the songs don't even have vocal tracks on them. Fucking awesome stuff though, a must for any and all so called black metal fans.

A day late on this one. See the album cover? The music is even scarier. Fucked up Korean improvised torture (read: music), an interesting listen to say the least.

Really underrated sludge/doom metal band from Ontario, Canada. Definitely worth your time to give it a download and a listen.

Svarti Loghin - Empty World
I'm kind of having a hard time coming up with a good way to describe this band. While it definitely has the general feel of black metal, it has some shoegaze elements as well without sounding cheesey or as lame as you'd think a black metal meets shoegaze hybrid would sound. That description came out as unreadable and idiotic as I thought it would. Just download it and give it a spin, asshole.

Snowblood - Snowblood
Some spaced out, sludgy long format type shit straight out of Glasgow, Scotland. Pretty solid release, four untitled tracks clocking in at exactly one hour.

Not really impressive. It's no Clients or Fused Together. Worth checking out if you're a fan of the band.

As much as I hate to use ridiculous genre modifiers, blackened death metal is what this truly is. The black metal elements bring a melodic touch to things. Enough tremolo picking (as well as other black metal riffs) to make me poop my pants. With song titles like "For Those Who Stayed Satanic" how can you go wrong?

Meaning bandname: Maquiladoras (or as we write: Makiladoras) are free-trade zones in Mexico. ‘Free’ means free to exploit, the workers in this kind of places don’t have any rights. At the Drive In made a song about the Maquiladoras and especially about the many women that were murdered when they were traveling to their job."
Awesome Dutch crust band.

Three dudes addicted to the riff. Hellbent on keepin' it heavy." - Their Myspace Page
So this has been sitting in my uploads folder for quite some time. Don't know why I never posted it. Slow, heavy, and slightly psychedelic metal. Get waste and jam it real slow.

Goofy black metal legends have finally returned. Haven't been able to listen to all of it yet, but from what I can gather not much has changed between 2002 and 2009. If you like their past work, grab it. The title track is on the above linked myspace if you're on the fence about it. I would like to note that I am disappointed in how entirely not retarded the album cover is. Wish I had the cash to pre-order the LP. You can grab it for around $25 over at
Nuclear Blast's webstore. Kind of expensive.
Edit: Apparently I need to work on cloaking my shit better.
