Hisingen Blues

Graveyard- Hisingen Blues

You probably know about Graveyard already. You probably also know that there are at least fifty bands named Graveyard operating on this planet at any given point in time, so for clarification's sake we're talking about the Swedish psychedelic/blues/stoner rock band. If The Black Keys were cooler, heavier, and Swedish, this is what it might sound like. Don't like that comparison? Tough titties, I got da blog and you ain't.

Looks like my downstairs neighbor gets to look forward to this one blaring through the ceiling on repeat for the next week or two.

TONIGHT A DEMON CAME INTO MY HEAD!
AAAAAAAAHGHHHGHGGHGHGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

EDIT 3/31/11 -- Apparently the label removed the file. I'll re-up soon.

Stoned

Acid Witch - Stoned

I was hesitant to listen to this album, primarily because I really did not like Witchtanic Hellucinations, the full length they released in 2006. The vocals on that album were absolutely ridiculous and impossible to get past. That's all changed though, with 2010's Stoned. Aptly titled psychedelic death, now without laughable gurgle vocals.

STONED TO THE GRAVE.

Hail Infernal Darkness

Drawn And Quartered - Hail Infernal Darkness

D&Q are a long-lived Seattle death metal band that came together all the way back in '93. It isn't often that I can say Seattle death metal and be proud, so it feels good to share these guys with the internet. New album is being mastered right now so if you like this, check out the new album when it drops and support NWDM! Their sound falls somewhere in between Incantation and Immolation, which is essentially perfect in my book. A deep dark sound that's still decipherable.

Soulside Journey

Darkthrone - Soulside Journey

A lot of people don't seem to realize that before Darkthrone started making awesome black metal, they made even more awesome death metal. Released in 1991 on Peaceville, this copy includes the extra track Eon. It's mostly just a basic death riff with some super cheesy synths over the top. My favorite bit of trivia regarding this album happens to be the fact that Fenriz was credited under the alias Hank Amarillo for this album. HAHA.

Hank Amarillo.

The Inside Room

40 Watt Sun - The Inside Room

I don't really know how to describe this other than butt-rock sludge. Somehow Patrick Walker managed to create something even more depressing than Warning.

Can you see me shining?

Reinkaos

Dissection - Reinkaos

In celebration of the Supermoon obliterating the Earth, let's get our anti-cosmic melodic death on. My friend and I have both been fascinated Jon Nödtveidt for years, both his mysterious ritual suicide and the rad music he left behind. If you don't know the whole story, I highly recommend reading up on it. Especially if you're interested in either the occult or all goodness in the universe being consumed by evil dark matter. I hope the MLO doesn't murder me for typing that.

Supermoon.

Crucified Mortal

Crucified Mortals - Crucified Mortals

It's a beautiful day outside and sunny weather means its time for some fuckin' thrash! This is some rippin' thrash metal with some old school death metal sensibility. Skin meltingly fast shred that screeches to a bone crunching stomp from time to time.

Thrash.

Frozen In Time

Obituary - Frozen In Time

An oft overlooked album from one of my favorite Florida death metal bands.

Redneck Stomp.

Through Silver In Blood

Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood

I've recently been rediscovering Neurosis. I've always enjoyed them, but lately I've really come to appreciate them. One of the best in the genre and a truly potent live experience. I highly recommend getting out to see them if you get the chance.

Purify.

Haunting The Chapel

Slayer - Haunting The Chapel

Satan's favorite EP.

Hail.

Grinderman 2

Grinderman - Grinderman 2

Nick Cave Appreesh.

Get it on.

Screaming For Vengeance

Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance

As per my previous post, depending on my mood, this album is a serious contender for my favorite Priest record. As of this moment, it is my favorite Priest record.

PAIN 4 PLEASURE.

The Horror

Tribulation - The Horror

Apparently this was released March of 2009? What? How have I never heard this? Shredding death metal that sounds contemporary without being an overtly polished piece of shit. A balance that seems incredibly hard for most bands to manage. I've really enjoyed this album and highly suggest it to anyone that enjoys the genre.

The Horror.

In The Sign Of Evil

Sodom - In The Sign Of Evil

While almost everything Sodom has done is pretty cool, I constantly find myself coming back to this album more often than anything else in their pretty expansive discography. Is it the gruesome dude on the album cover? Is it the sinister and decidedly satanic message? Is it the riffs? Is it the ridiculous way this guy pronounces Jesus Christ (Jeehuh Crize)? Who knows. It's good though.

SPECIAL FEATURES: Ever find yourself wondering what homeboy looks like without a shirt on? Well now you know. Also it looks like somebody melted his face a little bit.

BLASPHEMAH!

Abuse

Wormrot - Abuse

Truly awesome grindcore band from Singapore. This album is nasty as fuck, I can't wait to see them on friday.

In Grind We Rot.

Show No Mercy

Slayer - Show No Mercy

Yeah, dude. I know you downloaded Reign In Blood that one time. It's totally in your crusty little winamp or whatever. But this is possibly my favorite Slayer album, the NWOBHM influence combined with some serious riffs make this one stand out from the rest for me. Serious riffs. Riffs that are gonna stab you in your poser face just like that demon face motherfucker up there. Thrash insane or die in PAIN!

Die By The Sword

Euphoric Hymns

Grave Ritual - Euphoric Hymns From The Altar of Death

Man, what a weekend. After all that time spent getting waste it's time to curl up with some Incantation worship.

Onward.

Shinki Chen & His Friends

Shinki Chen - Shinki Chen & His Friends

Well that was a weird couple of posts. Here's another weird one. Drugged out Japanese rock from the 1970s. Don't let the first track fool you, as what starts out as a pretty unnerving noise bath turns into some really cool psychedelic rock.

Welcome To Based World

Lil' B - Welcome To Based World

OH THANK YOU BASED GOD YOU CAN HAVE MY BLOG AND ALL MY POSTS AND ALL MY TAGS AND CHANGE THE NAME TO GET BASED OH GOD DAMN BASED GOD SWAG SWAG SWAG BILL CLINTON SWAG THE RAWEST BASED LORD

Nonsense aside, this is one of the most ridiculous and/or interesting things to happen to music. Approach it with an open mind. I'm so based right now.

OH FUCK THANK YOU BASED GOD

Judas Priest - Painkiller

This album and Screaming For Vengeance trade off being my favorite Judas Priest album, depending on what mood I'm in. If I started a motorcycle gang, I would definitely call it Hell Patrol.

TEAR UP THE GROUND!

Cursed

Rotten Sound - C u r s e d

It's everywhere else, now it's here too. Along with Nasum, the only 'polished' grindcore I can get myself to listen to for more than a minute or two. Weird spacing because Relapse deletes my shit all the time.

Cursed.
