Mother Brain - Straight To Business

http://grindcorekaraoke.com/album/straight-to-business

I first found these nasty grinders roaming around on Grindcore Karaoke's bandcamp page. If you've never been there, it's pretty much a library of crazy music for free. You should go there. Anyway, I gather that these guys are from New York and play some grossout grindcore that occasionally introduces some seriously slamming riffs. This shit really appeals to me.

Hear Nothing See Nothing Etc Etc

Discharge - Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing

I've been listening to this album a whole lot, so guess what? I'm gonna type about it on the internet. And you're gonna read about it on the internet. Or maybe a phone. I don't know what the fuck you do.

Discharge is a very cool band that started a new style of music called Discharge-Beat. This particular LP of Discharge-Beat has a truly horrifying guitar sound. A sort of undulating cloud that's accented by distant squeals. Mostly the drums just play a Discharge-Beat.

DISCHARGEBEAT.

Mindless Nation

Napalm Raid - Mindless Nation (2012)

Napalm Raid are a crust/d-beat unit operating out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. They play a truly ripping style of vaguely anthemic crust with vocals that sound like they're bellowed straight from the abyss. I haven't checked but I would assume that the lyrics are about the government or napalm or something. The whole thing is barely over 20 minutes long so you might as well check it out. You were just going to do something worthless with those 20 minutes anyway. Don't deny it you stupid supplicant.

You can view their blog/website here.
You can steal their record here.

Napalm Raid

Raw Power

The Stooges - RAW POWER (1973)

Everybody always tryna tell me what to do.

Raw Power.

No Hope In Here

Bastard - No Hope In Here (2002)

Shame on you if you haven't heard the name of the mighty Bastard, crusty punk unit from the land of the rising sun. Listening to this record is fun, especially if you like yelling MISERREERRUUOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!! This is literally every song this group put out, we call it a Discography in the elite music blogging biz.

MISERUUUUUUUUUUUU

Strange Songs (In The Dark)

Merchandise - Strange Songs (In The Dark) (2010)

I imagine the cretins that darken the doorways of this blog haven't heard this before. Because I sure hadn't until a friend threw the LP on the other day.

Guys lets take a post punk break.

**BONUS CONTENT: Gone Are The Silk Flowers of Youth (CS) (2010)

At A Loss

Buzzov*en - At A Loss (1998)

Don't bring me down.

At A Loss.

In My Head

Black Flag - In My Head (1985)

My brain is in such a weirdo impenetrable fog right now. This about sums it up. I'm out cold, and I'm never comin' to.

nnnnn

Bone Sickness

Bone Sickness - Bone Sickness (2011)

Bone Sickness is an awesome fucking band that hails from my neck of the woods. They've honed a primitive and visceral death metal sound that is especially potent on their most recent release, this fucking awesome 7". It's only two songs but it's going to fuck you up man. Featuring ex-members of Funerot and Dead Stare.

BONE SICKNESS.

Hat Creek

Dads - Hat Creek (2010)

Bizarre collection of weirdo songs. This is the worst 7" ever made. Don't download it.

Hats.

Beyond Living

Milk Music - Beyond Living (2010)

Awesome fuzzed out and grungy rock band from Olympia, WA. Solid song writing and sloppy rock n' roll riffs. This is a 12" EP so there's unfortunately only twenty minutes of music, but I'm really excited to see what they'll do next.

No life.
Flipper - Generic Flipper (1982)

Ever see a flower and hate it? Ever see a couple kissing and feel sickened by it? Ever wish the human race didn't exist then realize that you're one too? Well, have you? I have. So what.

This record is one of the most mind-crushingly heavy and soul-draining albums ever forged.

Life is pretty cheap.
Baader Brain - Baader Brains LP

My last post reminded me of this album. Of no relation to the very well known punk/reggae/hardcore group, obviously. This is really hard to explain. Rockin' hardcore punk laden with lots of samples and weird interludes. I've never been able to find much info on these dudes, so feel free to fill me in if you know something. A very interesting listen indeed!

Destroy the United States of America.
Bad Brains - I Against I

I'm a jaded old man. Nothing new is exciting anymore. I've been listening to this, though. My favorite Bad Brains album, a much more interesting sound in my opinion. Get in touch with Jah. He misses you.

Also, I'm loving how the cover art could easily be for a 80's gangster rap group.

Pay 2 Cum.

Rats Eyes - Rats Eyes 7"

Hardcore punk band featuring Gabe Serbian of The Locust doing his best Henry Rollins impression. A fairly interesting listen, but I'm more interested in where this will go in the future.

Find your way to the bottom.

Society Nurse - Junk Existence

It's been long enough and supplies of the 7" are low enough now that I can in good conscience post this record. I absolutely love this band, probably my third favorite band in Seattle behind Walls and of course the mighty Iron Lung. Society Nurse plays an ugly brand of hardcore that I find completely refreshing, even though this genre seems to be on the upswing (not that I'm complaining!) This is definitely a recommended listen if you've enjoyed some of the other more visceral hardcore I've been posting lately. Again, this isn't my link as I recently moved and have internet so shitty my own uploads all time out, so let me know if it goes down and I can try to fix it.

They have some new material in the works, so keep your ear to the ground if you enjoy this.

Junk Existence

Food - Self Titled

This is the first thing to actually catch my ear (?) in a long time. Sludgy, distorted, dirty, rockin' punk. Noise-rock that pays homage to the dudes that were shredding it up here in Seattle in the 80' and 90's. Nasty music for doing nasty things. Like driving to work. Plus the cover is a wolf with snakes coming out of its mouth.

Feed yourself
No Talk - Leather Discipline

Okay, I felt bad for not posting anything of substance. So here, have this extremely erotic, extremely rockin' punk record from No Talk. The aptly titled Leather Discipline addresses sexual and BDSM subject matter, something that I find both hilarious and fascinating.

Brief aside, this is not the correct album artwork. I can't find an image that isn't a record photographed on a table, so this will have to serve a placeholder. Sorry to all the iTunes perfectionists out there. I feel for you.

It's a good day for some leather.

Gauze are probably my favorite Japanese hardcore band. They originated back in the very early 80's, and according to their biography: "The original plan according to Shin the bass player was to play as fast as possible. They attempted to give the impression of playing fast without actually playing fast.". What this means, if anything, is a mystery to me, but it totally works. Their second album Equalizing Distort (a name I find both nonsensical and tough as fuck at the same time) was released in 1986, check it out.
