Sleepy Sun - Embrace

My favorite album as of late for when it's time to get utmost waste. Really cool psychedelic rock from northern California. Male and female vocals split duties. Might not fit with the usual fare of this blog, but I'm into it. The bass absolutely kills me, listen to it nice and loud.

Get waste.
Baader Brain - Baader Brains LP

My last post reminded me of this album. Of no relation to the very well known punk/reggae/hardcore group, obviously. This is really hard to explain. Rockin' hardcore punk laden with lots of samples and weird interludes. I've never been able to find much info on these dudes, so feel free to fill me in if you know something. A very interesting listen indeed!

Destroy the United States of America.
Bad Brains - I Against I

I'm a jaded old man. Nothing new is exciting anymore. I've been listening to this, though. My favorite Bad Brains album, a much more interesting sound in my opinion. Get in touch with Jah. He misses you.

Also, I'm loving how the cover art could easily be for a 80's gangster rap group.

Pay 2 Cum.

Phobia - Unrelenting

New Phobia EP. That alone warrants a listen.

Unrelenting.

Decrepit Birth - Polarity

Death Metal purist basement dwellers are going to complain about this. I don't care. I really like this album. It's probably due to the fact I was raised on Michael Schenker, but the triumphantly lofty and harmonic riffs always make my boner rage. But don't let that fool you. It's heavy without being wig-slamz, and technical without devolving into a stupid masturbatory weedle-weedle-weedly-weeeeeeeeee circle jerk. Vocals are cool as well.

IGNITE THE TESLA COIL
Iron Lung - Sexless//No Sex

This is the only record I listen to anymore. It's flawless. That's really all I have to say about it. It's also worth noting how many times iron lungs actually come up lyrically, it cracks me up. If you don't already have this album, stop flushing your life down the toilet and spend the rest of it listening to this.

PIG HANDS USE DIRTY TOOLS.
Rats Eyes - Rats Eyes 7"

Hardcore punk band featuring Gabe Serbian of The Locust doing his best Henry Rollins impression. A fairly interesting listen, but I'm more interested in where this will go in the future.

Find your way to the bottom.

Wolves In The Throne Room - Malevolent Grain

Released in 2009, I picked up the LP and have only spun it a couple times since. I recently listened to it really late at night while half drunk and exceptionally tired and really enjoyed it. Wah wah! Hipster black metal. Wah! Pitchfork! Who gives a fuck? I like this band a lot. One of the two tracks even features vocals from Jamie Myers of Hammers Of Misfortune fame.

Winter now converges.
Society Nurse - Junk Existence

It's been long enough and supplies of the 7" are low enough now that I can in good conscience post this record. I absolutely love this band, probably my third favorite band in Seattle behind Walls and of course the mighty Iron Lung. Society Nurse plays an ugly brand of hardcore that I find completely refreshing, even though this genre seems to be on the upswing (not that I'm complaining!) This is definitely a recommended listen if you've enjoyed some of the other more visceral hardcore I've been posting lately. Again, this isn't my link as I recently moved and have internet so shitty my own uploads all time out, so let me know if it goes down and I can try to fix it.

They have some new material in the works, so keep your ear to the ground if you enjoy this.

Junk Existence

Happy Halloween

Instead of some stupid Misfits cover song youtube video, here's something that's actually really fucking cool:

E L E C T R I C
W I Z A R D ' S
NEW FUCKING ALBUM.
FUCK YEAH.

Black Masses

(Note: This link is not mine, so comment if it goes down so I can re-up. Idiotic spacing to keep my spot from getting blown up, this one's a doozy.)

Bongripper - Satan Worshiping Doom

Let's take a break from fast underproduced music and go to the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Really, the band name, album title, and cover art say it all. Four tracks of massive, plodding, overbearing doom metal that's going to take all your teeth and make a necklace out of them. A little under an hour of weed smoke infused trudgery with a few interesting and unexpected riffs thrown in.

Hail Satan.

Total Abuse - Mutt

I love this record. I actually can't believe I never uploaded it. Just gone done blasting it loud as fuck and thought I'd make sure it was on the blog. Total Abuse is a horrible, nasty, disgusting band from Austin that makes gross music. I love it. If you like gross music as much as I do, so will you.

MAKE ME A EUNUCH!
Ed Gein - Judas Goats and Diesel Eaters

I've recently been going back and listening to albums I was really into in my mid teenage years. You probably already know what there is to know about this band, so I won't go into it. I was surprised to still find this album pretty enjoyable. Might post more old stupid shit if nothing decent comes along.

Here it is.
Sabbah Navahthani - Self Titled

"Sabbah Navahthani play an incendiary style of Sludge Doom, with a hefty dose of D-beat Crust filth and a totally old-school Black Metal necro feeling throughout. As Christ’s Necro-chainsaw guitar riffs slice through Tas’ distorted snarls while the nothing short of absolutely crushing rythm section consisting of Tas’ trademark bulldozing bass sound and Philip’s brutal drumming, Sabbah Navahthani trudge along like some kind lumbering leviathan of a tank embellished with skulls, nails and chains."

The dude from Electric Wizard (Tasos) is in this band.
Manditory listening.

Food - Self Titled

This is the first thing to actually catch my ear (?) in a long time. Sludgy, distorted, dirty, rockin' punk. Noise-rock that pays homage to the dudes that were shredding it up here in Seattle in the 80' and 90's. Nasty music for doing nasty things. Like driving to work. Plus the cover is a wolf with snakes coming out of its mouth.
