Food - Self Titled

This is the first thing to actually catch my ear (?) in a long time. Sludgy, distorted, dirty, rockin' punk. Noise-rock that pays homage to the dudes that were shredding it up here in Seattle in the 80' and 90's. Nasty music for doing nasty things. Like driving to work. Plus the cover is a wolf with snakes coming out of its mouth.

No Talk - Leather Discipline

Okay, I felt bad for not posting anything of substance. So here, have this extremely erotic, extremely rockin' punk record from No Talk. The aptly titled Leather Discipline addresses sexual and BDSM subject matter, something that I find both hilarious and fascinating.
Brief aside, this is not the correct album artwork. I can't find an image that isn't a record photographed on a table, so this will have to serve a placeholder. Sorry to all the iTunes perfectionists out there. I feel for you.
It's a good day for some leather.

Burning Love - Don't Ever Change
Burning Love - Songs For Burning Lovers
Believe me when I say I know exactly how much weight this description holds: This band sounds like Pissed Jeans if they were a hardcore band fronted by Chris Colohan (of Cursed fame). And I say that because Chris Colohan does actually front this band. Burning Love is going to be the next big thing, get in on the ground floor. I present to you two offerings, the first a two song demo, the second a full length record. Enjoy yourself.
I normally don't say (or type) shit like this, but I cannot recommend this band enough. I was blown away the first time I heard them and I am one jaded motherfucker.
DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS.

California Love - Reaping The Whirlwind
I'm listening to this record thinking about how much I hate Ghana right now. A selfish and strictly American endeavour, I know, but I don't care. Cloudy production that definitely holds the material back a bit. Overall, an interesting record as it transitions willy-nilly from blisteringly fast to a slow and tortured crawl. Unlike other California Love efforts, they show you just how slow and nasty they can get, which in my book is a more than welcome demonstration. If you enjoy Mind Eraser you will like this record. If you enjoy Mind Eraser, stop reading my blog.

Gauze are probably my favorite Japanese hardcore band. They originated back in the very early 80's, and according to their biography: "
The original plan according to Shin the bass player was to play as fast as possible. They attempted to give the impression of playing fast without actually playing fast.". What this means, if anything, is a mystery to me, but it totally works. Their second album
Equalizing Distort (a name I find both nonsensical and tough as fuck at the same time) was released in 1986, check it out.

California Love / Gehenna Split

I'll be completely honest. This isn't the best shit of all time, but it's an honest offering and interesting enough to warrant a download. It's just one track from each band, so donate five minutes of your time to being awesome.
Get fucked up.

Limp Wrist - Thee Official Discography

This is one of those records I enjoy more and more as time passes. Real fast hardcore punk with vocals that vaguely remind me of powerviolence. You already know all about Limp Wrist though, right? Right?
I love boys hardcore.

In honor of Kerry King's birthday as well as the impending evil that is
national Slayer day, everyone should listen to Slayer and only Slayer today and of course, on June 6th. In preparation for this most glorious day, here is a selection of my favorites.
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss
Slayer - Hell Awaits
LETS LISTEN TO SOME FUKKIN' SLAYER!!! Remember kids, "National holidays in America aren't just about celebrating; they're about forcing it upon non-participants." So jack this shit up to eleven and terrify the masses on the 6th.

The Hard-Ons with Neil Hamburger - American Exports

HEY. You. You like Black Flag? Ever wonder what it would sound like if Neil Hamburger fronted the band? Well boy howdy do I have the 7" for you. Neil Hamburger and The Hard-Ons team up to produce probably the most hilarious Black Flag cover of all time (Six Pack). Also included are three other shredding punk tracks fronted by America's favorite greasy, cup-cradling comedian.
Harriet Tubman was a heroine to the slaves.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are slaves to heroin.

Decapitated - Organic Hallucinosis

First and foremost: fuck tha haters. Everyone that cried into their neckbeard when this album came out (and are probably still are currently) need to chill out. This album has some of the best death metal grooves ever. By grooves, I mean the riffage is what would shoot out if Meshuggah impregnated the last Decapitated album and the child was raised on an iceberg by a demon. Or something like that. If you were dissuaded by crybaby zipper-pants retards back when this album was released, listen to it. It's great.
RIP Vitek :(

Rest In Peace, Holy Diver.Ronnie James Dio (July 10, 1942 – May 16, 2010)

In honor of a true metal icon dissolving into the astral realm, let's listen to some of his most unholy rituals.

Anaal Nathrakh - In The Constellation Of The Black Widow

I totally slept on this record until recently. I've always loved Anaal Nathrakh, one of my favorite bands for sure. Mick's riffs shred, V.I.T.R.I.O.L.'s (AKA Dave Hunt) vocals shred even more. Literally. It sounds like his throat is being shredded into a bloody pulp. Cool. If you haven't heard them before, I highly recommend you browse through this blog and listen to
The Codex Necro first. It rules.
While I wouldn't call this their best effort, it's still totally awesome (and necro). There are a couple snoozers that I didn't really enjoy, but overall a totally sinister listen. Dave continues to demonstrate the fact that he can do every form of vocal delivery in extreme music as well as belt out the most epic clean line you've ever heard once or twice an album.
Too Long No Read: Music sound good. Voice guy crazy. You listen.

Heavy Metal Parking Lot is now available on Hulu. If you don't know what that is, stop being a dork and go watch it. Essentially, two dudes just talked to a bunch of awesome metal heads tail gating before a 1986 Judas Priest show. Fuckin' Priest, dude.
Watch it here.
